WWE witnessed unprecedented popularity in 2024. The company had its “biggest WrestleMania of all time” in April. SmackDown returned to the USA Network in September NXT moved to The CW in October. As for WWE Superstars, some men and women reached a whole new stratosphere when it came to feuds, wins and title matches.
But before we move to our list of WWE stars with the biggest wins in 2024, let’s take a look at some honorable mentions. We’ll start with Damian Priest at number three. Priest, who had a tremendous year that saw him successfully cash-in his Money in the Bank contract for the world title at WrestleMania XL.
Both Jade Cargill and Bron Breakker are tied in at number two for their tag team and Intercontinental Championship run (respectively). Finally, coming in at number one is none other than CM Punk. The Voice of the Voiceless had rivalry of the year with Drew McIntyre but that’s a topic for another time.
Here are the top five WWE stars with the biggest wins in 2024:
5. Nia Jax annihilated her competition in WWE
Nia Jax’s current run has been nothing short of spectacular. After headlining Elimination Chamber: Perth against Rhea Ripley, Nia’s fortunes turned for the better as she won the second Queen of the Ring Tournament. The Irresistible Force put her name in history books by beating Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2024.
As for her in-ring work, this writer has nothing but praise for Nia Jax. She was already a convincing heel. From her nail-biting title showdown against Naomi to her performance in tag team matches, Nia continues to prove her doubters wrong week in and out. Hopefully, she’ll be a major star for WWE in 2025.
4. Gunther went from Ring General to World Heavyweight Champion
Gunther hit a major roadblock in 2024. His record-setting Intercontinental Championship run came to an end at WrestleMania XL. However, the Ring General quickly bounced back by claiming the King of the Ring crown for himself. He’d add the world title to his impressive resume by defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024.
The following months saw Gunther only elevate his championship run by beating the likes of Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest. Though he failed to become the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion, Gunther remains the top champion on WWE RAW ahead of the red brand’s move to Netflix.
3. Solo Sikoa became the ‘New’ Tribal Chief
Solo Sikoa turned the WWE Universe upside down after WrestleMania XL. The former Enforcer had his own flesh and blood attacked by Tama Tonga. Tama’s brother Tonga Loa joined Solo’s crew at Backlash France. But the most incredible addition to this ‘New’ Bloodline came in the form of Jacob Fatu.
The Samoan Werewolf’s arrival shook the SmackDown locker room to its core. Under Solo’s mentorship, The New Bloodline captured the WWE Tag Team Championship. Solo also made some huge strides in his singles career by pinning both Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. He is set to have the biggest match of his career yet on RAW come January 6.
2. Liv Morgan rose to the upper echelons of WWE
Nick Aldis called Liv Morgan the MVP of 2024. Not only did she beat Becky Lynch for the world title, she took Dominik Mysterio away from Rhea Ripley. She’d flex her muscles by bringing Rhea’s longtime nemesis Raquel Rodriguez as her ‘insurance policy.’ At Crown Jewel, Liv beat Nia Jax to become the first-ever Women’s Crown Jewel Champion.
At the time of this writing, Liv is the reigning Women’s World Champion while being a crucial member of The Judgment Day. She impressed Jessy Ventura with her performance against IYO SKY at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Fans will have to wait to see if Liv Morgan retains her title against Rhea Ripley at RAW on Netflix premiere.
1. Cody Rhodes finished his story
Cody Rhodes is, without a doubt, the biggest star to come out of WWE in 2024. The American Nightmare kicked off 2024 by becoming a two-time Royal Rumble winner. He would be bruised and battered by The Rock and Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania XL only to end The Tribal Chief’s historic run on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Cody’s post-WrestleMania run has been a mix of ups and downs. He ate the pin from Solo Sikoa. His mentor and friend Randy Orton took a piledriver from Kevin Owens. Speaking of Owens, KO put Cody on the shelf with a package piledriver after Saturday Night’s Main Event. The American Nightmare may be ending 2024 as champion but he’s far from being at his hundred percent.
