Hit – TBS Title match on AEW Dynamite

Anna Jay’s excursion is paying off. She had a great opening match against Mercedes Mone. The crowd were cheering big time for her. Mercedes has had some great title defenses and last night’s match was no exception. The Kris Statlander cameo would probably lead to another title match between the pair.

Miss – MJF and Adam Cole segment

Something just doesn’t seem to be working in this Adam Cole versus MJF feud. The role reversal could be a major factor in this writer not liking the rivalry. This is the second week Cole delivered a superkick to Max. Max’s ’emotional promo’ also didn’t do it for this writer. Both men will come face-to-face this week on AEW Collision.

Hit – HOOK & Shibata vs. Christian Cage & Nick Wayne

This was a surprisingly good match. HOOK and Shibata have been tagging for quite some time so the effectiveness was evident. Christian Cage with the heel tactics to claim the win was a good way to cap off the match.

Miss – Ricochet’s promo on AEW Dynamite

This promo reminded the writer of why Trick Melo Gang roasted Ricochet’s mic skills in the first place. He has zero charisma. The confrontation with Hurt Syndicate didn’t help things either. They could’ve booked this in a different way. The backstage promo with Renee was bad as well. Shoutout to Swerve for the bald line. That was hilarious.

Hit – Darby Allin vs. Will Ospreay

This was not only match of the night, it might even be one of the best AEW Dynamite matches of 2024. Darby and Ospreay wanted to kill each other. The Styles Clash to the outside was diabolical. Allin is one crazy SOB for taking the bump. The ending was quite surprising but made sense because Allin needed a comeback win.

Honorable Mentions

  • Shelton Benjamin and Beast Mortos had a solid, hard-hitting match-up. Shelton’s no f*cks given gimmick is fantastic. The way he just manhandles his opponent out of nowhere is absolutely brilliant. Beast Mortos may have one of the best-looking slams in all of AEW.
  • The vignette with RJ City and Toni Storm was both hilarious and heartbreaking. If there’s one person who can pull off the gimmick to perfection, it’s Toni. The writer is super invested in this storyline.
  • Orange Cassidy, Jay White and Hangman Page battled PAC, Wheeler Yuta and Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash. Page’s reluctance to show some team work ended up costing them the match. The post-match brawl was fun to watch as well.
