Kevin Owens is doing his best to right WWE’s wrong as they refuse to acknowledge him as the real WWE Champion.
The former Universal Champion challenged Cody Rhodes for his world title at Saturday Night’s Main Event. While he lost the match, Kevin Owens took the Winged Eagle WWE Championship belt after attacking Cody Rhodes, declaring himself to be the real WWE Champion.
He continued his crusade to be recognized during a trip to WWE Headquarters after the Raw on Netflix launch event. In a video posted to WWE’s YouTube channel, Kevin Owens charged around the building looking for one specific poster of the WWE Champion.
“Alright, I’m at WWE headquarters. I was here for the big Netflix press conference—obviously couldn’t happen without me—and this place is awesome. But there’s one specific part I walked by that I think I need to fix, just to make it better. Here we go.”
As he walks past posters of all the champions in the WWE, he points out all the great champions in the company. However, when he reaches the image of Cody Rhodes, he decries the claim he is the WWE Champion as “misinformation”.
“Jey Uso—great champion. Great champions. Great champions. Misinformation is what it is, so we’re gonna fix this right now.”
“I gotta say, it’s a bit odd that the War Raiders won the title just a few days ago, and their stuff is already up here. But me? I’ve been the true WWE Champion since Saturday, and I’m still not on there.”
“But it’s okay. Sometimes you just gotta do everything yourself, you know? There we go. That’s perfect. Well, it’s not perfect—it could be better. It’s got the wrong plate. definitely the wrong name, but at least it hides that stupid face and neck tattoo.”
