Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that WWE sources said that LA Knight is not hurt; he was never approved for the appearance, and Strowman was named as his replacement.
WWE star LA Knight is dealing with an injury, according to a new announcement.
In a tweet, Luekens Wine & Spirits announced that LA Knight was unable to attend the Meet & Greet on December 27 due to injury. They announced that Braun Strowman would replace him at the event.
Knight last wrestled on the December 13 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he faced Solo Sikoa. Jacob Fatu interfered and attacked Knight.
As of this writing, WWE has not officially announced an injury to LA Knight. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
LA Knight On His Run As Maxi Dupri
In a recent interview, Knight looked back on his run as Max Dupri. Speaking with Josh Lawless of Sport Bible, he was asked about this chapter of his career.
“[Rolls his eyes] I’d rather not reflect on it! That’s my reflection on it,” Knight said. “I enjoy the challenge of doing new things but to me, the uniqueness of wrestling is that it’s not just going out there doing a movie role or TV role. And I think with something like this where you’re going to be this person, this avatar so to speak for possibly years and years – maybe decades – it needs to be something which is akin to you if you’re really going to have it long-term.
“I don’t know who the hell Max Dupri is. I didn’t know who he was and quite honestly, I didn’t care. LA Knight, now that’s just me being me but taking it way up. The second I add the opportunity to revert back to that was not a second too soon.”
