Tessa Blanchard returned to a TNA ring this weekend, but she says she has not signed a contract with the promotion.
Blanchard appeared at TNA Final Resolution on Friday night, attacking Jordynne Grace during her Knockouts Championship defense. Blanchard later told cameras backstage that TNA was built on her back, and she’s there to take back what’s hers.
Just two days later, Tessa Blanchard appeared at an EWA December 2 Remember event in Puerto Rico. She spoke with Controlona PR‘s Joel Torres about returning to TNA, and she also shared that she’s not locked down to a contract despite her on-air return.
Tessa Blanchard explains why she’s back in TNA
“Leaving CMLL was a very difficult decision because I have a lot of respect for them and they’ve done a lot for me. I’m very grateful for CMLL, but right now, I am not signed with anyone, not with TNA or CMLL. My eyes are on Jordynne Grace because I have a lot of history in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling,” Tessa Blanchard said (via translation). “My goal is a one-on-one match with Jordynne Grace, who had many fights with men and women and she won many championships. I have confidence in my skills and I will show who the best wrestler in the world is.”
Tessa Blanchard’s road back to TNA
Tessa Blanchard was previously terminated by TNA in 2020. Her exit was reportedly a response to her refusing to drop the IMPACT World Championship. She was previously accused of using racist language toward La Rosa Negra. Multiple female wrestlers reportedly witnessed the incident, but Blanchard denied the allegations.
Blanchard has been wrestling for CMLL in recent months. She won the CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Championships, but those titles were vacated last week due to her departure.
Prior to her return, F4WOnline.com‘s Dave Meltzer reported that Tessa Blanchard was believed to have signed with TNA. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful then reported that many talent learned that Blanchard was signing with TNA last week. According to Sapp, TNA higher-ups and others claimed that they did not know about Blanchard’s status. Additionally, Grace also reportedly pushed back on working with Blanchard.
