AEW Rampage: Winter is Coming Results

Matt Cardona And Bryan Keith Go At It

Matt Cardona vs. Bryan Keith

Cardona and Keith started things off with a lockup as CHris Jericho talked trash on the mic from commentary. Keith kept the advantage for most of the match, including a moment where he landed a massive jumping knee right to Cardona’s head for a near fall. The pair continued to go at it until Cardona flipped moment after exchanging some chops in the corner.

Late in the match, Cardona hit a big leg sweep to drop Keith, and then threw him into the corner for a big running knee. Cardona hits a missile dropkick but Keith answers with his own quick uranage for another near fall. Keith looked like he would walk out with a win, but Cardona blocks a German suplex attempt and hits a Silence for the win.

Winner – Matt Cardona

Grade: B+

All around a solid affair. Cardona continues to be one of the more superstars to watch in the ring, and his upcoming bout against Jericho should be a ton of fun.

Toni Storm Gets Timeless Against Harley Cameron

Toni Storm vs. Harley Cameron

This one started off nice, with Storm trying to offer a handshake to Cameron, but was instead met with a headlock. She quickly got to work after, dropping Cameron with a dropkick and running boot before Cameron absolutely laid her out with a big punch, then sent us to break.

Back from commercial, Storm had regained momentum, and hits a Fisherman suplex for a near fall. Cameron hits a big move of her own for another near fall, but Storm ended things by hitting a massive powerbomb, then a Storm Zero for the win.

Winner – Toni Storm

Grade – B

This one was another awesome match, and another showcase for exactly why Storm remains one of the best wrestlers in the company. Her chemistry with Cameron was also solid, so hopefully we see a little more of those two in the ring.

Deonna Purrazzo Makes Short Work Of Shazza McKenzie

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Shazza McKenzie

This is a relatively quick match here, as Purrazzo pretty much dominated things from the very start. McKenzie got in some hits, but Purrazzo never looked any nervous whatsoever, and won things with a Spear, powerbomb, and then the fujiwara armbar for a submission victory.

Winner – Deonna Purrazzo

Grade – C+

All things considered, this was a pretty boring match, but watching Purrazzo dominate is always a ton of fun.

The Don Callis Family took to the ring ahead of their tag team match, with Tony Schiavone wondering if the crowd’s reaction a sign of how the AEW World really feels about the group. Callis said that his family was in the getting over and making money business, and then brought up how Kyle Fletcher beat “the best tournament wrestler” and asked him how it felt.

As boos rained down on Fletcher, he said he was preparing to win the AEW Continental Classic, and said no one would be getting in the way of his destiny.

Tag Team Action To End The Night

The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Lance Archer) vs. Powerhouse Hobbs & Mark Davis

After all the talking, the tag team match to close out the night, and for tonight at least, it was all Hobbs and Davis. They got to work quick taking out Archer, and tried dropping him for a quick one count. Later in the match, Takeshita would level out the momentum a bit, dodging a big spinebuster and trading punches with Hobbs to drop both to the mat.

After Archer hit a chokeslam on Hobbs for a near fall, Davis tripped Takeshita from behind and dragged him out of the ring and onto the floor outside. Hobbs then took advantage, hitting a big powerslam on Archer and then a spinebuster for the finish.

After the match, Takeshita tried to hit Hobbs with the AEW International Championship, but Hobbs countered it into a spinebuster of his own. Hobbs then stood in the ring with the belt held high, and Davis joined him to celebrate as the night came to a close.

Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs & Mark Davis

Grade – B+

This one was filled with some of AEW’s biggest stars beating the hell out of each other, which is always a fun time. The set up for a future Hobbs and Takeshita title match was great, too, as those two will almost certainly deliver when the time comes.

Overall, this was a great night for AEW Rampage. They’ve stacked up two back-to-back weeks of awesome episodes now, and hopefully will continue to do so as we head into the new year.
