This Saturday, the WWE Universe will witness the return of a classic event, Saturday Night’s Main Event. The show will feature both the major men’s championships. Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed Universal Championship against Kevin Owens.
The World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, will also put his title on the line in a Triple Threat Match against Damian Priest and Finn Balor. When asked about the return of the historical event, Owens shared his thoughts on who should take home a WWE Championship.
While speaking on Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Kevin Owens shared that he wants to see Finn Balor win the World Heavyweight Championship.
“If you’re asking me what my perfect scenario would be for Saturday night. I wanna see Finn Balor win the World Heavyweight Championship. I wanna win the WWE title.” Owens said. “Just on a personal level for both of us, we’ve been friends since the moment we got to WWE together at the same time. [We’ve gotten] very close. I really do consider him like a brother. I would just love to share that with him.”
Owens also reflected on the fact that Balor only held the Universal Championship for one night and never got the chance to show the world what kind of a champion he could be.
“Forget me,” Owens said. “Finn got the short end of the stick more than anyone because he won the Universal Title, then never even had the chance to show what he could do with it. And then, you know, after that you can count on one hand probably the number of titles matches he’s had and stuff. So, yeah, I would love to see him walk out with that title.”
