WWE NXT Results:

The Beautiful Madness IS the Iron Survivor

The new number one contender, Giulia, announces she is the Iron Survivor and will finally do what she came here to do. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez quips that everyone else in the match shined brighter than Giulia, even though she won the match. Perez says we have been here before, and the result will be the same. Well, if Giulia even makes it to New Year’s Evil.

Giulia says they can just do it now. Cora Jade appears with a bat. Jade says if Giulia thinks her friend Stephanie Vaquer will make the save tonight, she won’t; she can’t. On the Tron, we see that Vaquer is laid out in the back. Back in the ring, Giulia decks Perez. Jade wacks Giulia in the gut with a bat. Kelani Jordan makes the save.

Grade: C+

Ok, opening segment, but neither of these superstars will be confused with Dusty Rhodes on the mic. Having Jordan make the save is a choice, but they are clearly positioning her to move up a level to the NXT Women’s title division.

Backstage, OTM gets into it with No Quater Catch Crew

Wes Lee vs. Je’von Evans

Evans kicks out! Evans drops Lee with a superkick. Lee is out. Evans lands his double jump corkscrew splash for the win.

Winner- Je’Von Evans

Grade: B

Evans and Lee tore into each other to start and kept the intensity the entire match. Both men left few stones unturned between the stiff strikes and death-defying dives. Evans needs this win, so seeing it turn out that way is great. Lee will be fine and most likely be moved during the transfer period to another show.

Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont vs. Hank and Tank

Dupont runs over Tank. Tank lands a clothesline. Hank tags in eats a double shoulder block from Dupont and Igwe. Igwe and Hank trade shots. Hank and Tank take turns crushing Igwe in the corner. Tank and Hank sandwich Igwe. Igwe suplexes Tank. Dupont tags in and gets a two count after a splash. Roaring European uppercut by Dupont. Igwe and Dupont work over Tank. Hank blocks the turnbuckle while Tank is being launched into it. Tank explodes out of the corner and lands an elbow strike. Tank manages to tag in Hank. Hank clears the ring. Hank and Tank hit their finish on Dupont for the win.

Winners- Hank and Tank

After the match, Dupont shakes hands with Hank and Tank. Igwe refuses and walks away.

Grade: C+

These two teams managed to have a weirdly fun match, and it’s interesting that they are already teasing an issue between Igwe and Dupont. We haven’t gotten to spend much time with these two and have zero connection to them. Splitting them or teasing them is just flat-out strange.

The Ruler is Back

Oba Femi says at Deadline, he kicked down the door and destroyed everybody. Now, he is the Iron Survivor. At New Year’s Evil, Femi will ascend the throne. Femi notes that he hasn’t crossed paths with NXT Champion Trick Williams, but they have both been dominant in their divisions. Trick Williams interrupts. Williams and Femi circle each other. Eddy Thorpe interrupts. Thorpe claims Femi took him out and stole his place in the Iron Survivor Challenge. Femi says Thorpe is hurling wild accusations. Femi is done with Thrope and is only concerned with Williams.

Thorpe is incredulous. Femi says the only reason Williams has been on top is because Femi allowed it. Thorpe is pacing in the background. Femi promises the start of 2025 will be the end of Trick’s Era. Femi walks away. Williams tries to follow, but Thorpe cuts Williams off. Thorpe complains about Williams not standing up for him. Thorpe dumps on Williams for being a product of the performance center. Williams tells Thorpe to shut up. Williams says if Thorpe wants a shot, he’s got it, then Williams lays Thorpe out with one punch.

Grade: B

Femi and Williams are going to be gold together. Williams has been a good champion, but with the transfer portal stuff looming, it would be shocking if they didn’t move Williams to one of the other shows, which means it’s going to be Femi’s time. Femi having a long run with the title is interesting, but Femi may actually be more “main roster” ready than Williams at this point… that’s another conversation for another day. Thorpe was wildly out of place in this segment. None of his lines landed, and Femi and Williams completely outclassed him on the mic. If this is a sink-of-swim type situation for Thorpe, it is not going well.

Tatum Paxley & Gigi Dolin vs. Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx w/Fallon Henley

Dolin and Paxley are in control early. After a distraction, Jayne takes over on Dolan. Jayne and Nyx beat down Dolin. Dolin manages to tag in Paxley. Paxley clears the ring. Nyx distracts the referee while Henley pushes Paxley off the top. Jayne hits her finish for the win.

Winners- Fatal Influence

After the match, Henley, Jayne, and Nyx beat down Dolin and Paxley. Shotzi’s music hits. Shotzi runs down to the ring and makes the save.

Grade: C+

Good TV match. Entirely too short. The women’s North American Championship field is widening with the reappearance Shotzi. This match would have been so much better with more time.

North American Championship Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) w/The Family vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page

D’Angelo and Page trade shots. D’Angelo clotheslines Page over the top. After the break, Page and D’Angelo trade punches. D’Angelo suplexes Page. Page counters D’Angelo’s spinebuster with a straight shot to the forehead. D’Angelo spears Page. Two count only. Page lands a big boot. D’Angelo kicks out. Page lands a twist of fate. D’Angelo kicks out. Page sets up the Ego’s Edge. D’Angelo slips out. Spinebuster by D’Angelo. D’Angelo pins Page.

Winner and STILL North American Champion, Tony D’Angelo!

Grade: C+

Another match that didn’t have enough time to fully develop. These two have something… Hopefully, this leads to an angle between them because this match was ALMOST good. Most of it happened during the commercial break… what is that?

Giulia and Kelania Jordan vs. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade

While Giulia is making her entrance, Perez and Jade attack her. Jordan runs in, and everyone brawls. Jordan lands a dive. The bell rings, and the match officially starts. Perez and Giulia trade pin attempts. Perez takes control after a distraction from Jade. After the break, Jade and Perez are taking turns working over Jordan. Jordan manages to tag in Giulia. Giulia clears the ring. Perez ends up braced against the bottom rope. Giulia lands a nasty running boot. Arm-trapped suplex by Giulia.

Perez escapes Giulia’s finish and attempts Pop Rocks. Giulia escapes. Perez and Giulia trade strikes. Backdrop driver by Giulia. Giulia lands a driver. Jordan follows that with a frog splash. Jade breaks up the pin. Giulia breaks up Jade and Perez’s double-team attempt. Jordan sets up a dive. Perez moves out of the way, so Jordan just takes out Jade. Before Jordan can return to the ring, Perez hits Pop Rocks on the floor. Perez tosses Jordan back into the ring. Perez and Giulia fight off. Back in the ring, Jade blasts Jordan with a double-arm DDT for the win.

Winners- Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade

After the match, Stephanie Vaquer attacks Cora Jade. Jade escapes through the crowd.

Grade: B-

This match started with maybe less than 10 minutes left in the show, and they had no overrun. What went long tonight that through off the rest of the show? All for women moved a mile a minute to try to get their stuff in. The match was good but suffered from it’s pacing.

WWE NXT Review:

This was a strange show overall. There were clear pacing issues throughout all of the matches in the second half of the show, which made literally everything suffer because of it. The match of the night was Wes Lee vs. Je’Von Evans. Go out of your way to see that one.

Rating: B-
