Oba Femi Returns At NXT Deadline, Recent Absence Explained

Oba Femi shocked the NXT Universe on Saturday by appearing as the last entrant in NXT Deadline‘s Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, just after a report explained his recent absence.

Earlier in the week, Corey Brennan of Fightful Select reported that Femi hadn’t been backstage at recent NXT tapings, as he was enjoying some time off in Nigeria. Brennan wrote that rumors of Femi leaving or saying his “goodbyes” to the NXT locker room were not true.

Oba Femi then appeared at NXT Deadline. He was revealed as the replacement for Eddy Thorpe, who was not cleared to compete after he was attacked backstage. Femi ultimately emerged victorious. He defeated Wes Lee, Je’Von Evans, Nathan Frazer, and Ethan Page to become the next number one contender for the NXT Championship. Femi will challenge for the gold at NXT: New Year’s Evil.
