WWE SmackDown saw an increase in viewership on December 6.
According to Wrestlenomics (via Programming Insider), SmackDown averaged 1.494 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.44 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership number is up from last week’s episode when an average of 1.341 million viewers tuned in. The demo is also up from last week‘s episode (0.40 rating in the same demographic).
SmackDown ranked #1 in the 18 to 49 demographic on cable on Saturday.
What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with a promo from Cody Rhodes, he was interrupted by Chad Gable and a match was set up for later on in the show.
Tiffany Stratton won her triple threat match to advance in the Women’s United States Championship Tournament. She will face Michin in the semi-finals next week.
Elsewhere on the show, Michael Cole interviewed Kevin Owens in his rental car. Owens pretended to leave the venue but we later learned that wasn’t the case.
In the main event of the evening, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defeated Chad Gable in a non-title match. Kevin Owens attacked Rhodes following the match and both men brawled as SmackDown went off the air.
