It’s time to recap WWE SmackDown!
The December 6 episode of SmackDown went down in Minneapolis, MI. Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, Tiffany Stratton, Bianca Belair, and more appeared this week on the blue brand.
That said, here’s a look into the biggest hits and misses from 12/6 SmackDown.
Miss – Opening promo on WWE SmackDown
Cody needs to, as they say, dumb it down for the WWE Universe. The American Nightmare is as eloquent as they come. That said, all the grandiose verbiage needs to be in the right place, at the right time, and in front of the right opponent. No offense to Gable, he’s one of the best when it comes to the mat, but he still isn’t on CM Punk or Roman Reigns’ level when it comes to promo. Still, decent stuff to set up Gable vs. Rhodes on SmackDown.
Hit – Tiffany Stratton qualifies in the Women’s United States Title Tournament
Elektra Lopez is a stiff worker in a good way. Her in-ring approach suits her no sh*ts given gimmick. It’s great to see both B-Fab and Lopez put in the ring. The midcard needs these ladies as legitimate future contenders for the Women’s United States Championship. Tiffany winning the match was the right decision.
Miss – The Bloodline lays waste to LA Knight and Andrade
The Bloodline didn’t need to attack Knight and Andrade. This angle could’ve been avoided. It seems not having Roman on TV does affect the Bloodline angle a little bit. Jimmy’s absence didn’t help things either. Get well soon, Uce. You too, Bronson Reed. Tonga Loa, you get back too because we need the memes going. Anyways, attacking Knight and Andrade means they’ll (reluctantly) tag together against The Bloodline.
Hit – A shocking heel turn on WWE SmackDown
Okay, WWE. You got this writer two times in a row. First, with The New Day double turn on Big E. Now, with the #DIY double turn on Motor City Machine Guns. The match was fun but the bigger story is Gargano ditching his good guy gimmick to join heel Ciampa because winning is what matters at the end. Let’s see how Shelley and Sabin recover from this loss.
Miss – Cody Rhodes vs. Chad Gable
This match should’ve got more time. Gable is someone who can get a great match out of anyone. Rhodes is an all-time amazing storyteller. They really missed the opportunity to put on a banger because of time constraints.
Honorable Mentions
- Bianca Belair and Piper Niven had an extremely competitive match. Chelsea Green was brilliant in her annoying sidekick role. The KOD on Chelsea was the spot of the match, in this writer’s humble opinion.
- Kevin Owens asked Michael Cole for an interview in his rental only to boot him out. That’s some real courtesy right here. KO trolling Cole by lifting the rental window was hilarious. Also, the Sami Zayn mention was interesting.
