Roman Reigns didn’t need to greet Cody Rhodes backstage after his WrestleMania 40 victory.
The pair faced in one of the all-time-great WrestleMania main events this year. Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns in a match that saw The Usos, John Cena, Solo Sikoa, The Rock, Seth Rollins and The Undertaker all making interferences.
However, it appears the pair did not meet up backstage following the match. However, Roman Reigns has a good reason for not doing so.
Roman Reigns spoke with Jimmy Traina for Sports Illustrated and was asked if he and Cody Rhodes had a moment together backstage following WrestleMania 40. The former WWE Champion admitted there was no need, joking that Cody was in the ring so long celebrating that he had to get home before the pair met up backstage.
He went on to add that the great match they did was enough thanks for both men and there was no need to meet up backstage.
“There’s no need, but if you want to sit out there and babyface for four hours, I’m not waiting. You know what I mean? Especially at that point—what’s waiting? What kind of time are we talking about here? We’ve got to keep it moving.” Roman Reigns said.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on, exactly, and there’s a lot to be had in that night as well. I don’t live in Philly, so like I said, there’s some jet fuel to be burnt, and I had to go.”
Roman Reigns also added, “You know what? I think he hit it on the head—I’ll give him that. We know what we did; we were both out there. You can thank each other and all that old stuff. But we put our bodies on the line together, and I think that’s thanks enough.”
