Tag Team Action Starts Us Off
Mariah May & Mina Shirakawa vs. Harley Cameron & Nyla Rose
Tonight’s show starts off with Nyla and Mina having a dance party before getting going against one another. Later in the match, Rose is sent flying out of the ring and hit with a sliding kick from both Mariah and Mina. The duo then got in some taunts, laying down in the ring and staring at each other, just as Nyla got in a big splash on Mariah.
Toward the end of the match, Mina was able to hit a big DDT on Harley and then got together with Mariah to hit a Doomsday Bulldog on her for the win.
Winner – Mariah May & Mina Shirakawa
Grade: B
This one was solid enough. Some funny moments and overall really great wrestling from some of the more talented wrestlers in AEW’s women’s division.
Weigh-in Segment for AEW Full Gear
It’s time for The Costco Guys. QT Marshall and “Big Boom!” AJ come out, and Marshall immediately began talking about how sick he is of him. He said at Full Gear, he plans to bring the Doom to Big Boom, before Aj began talking about how Marshall will pay for disrespecting double chocolate chunk cookies. In a move that got the crowd going, AJ said that The Rizzler will be at Full Gear to ring the bell.
QT then stepped onto the scale to weigh in at 229 pounds, and when AJ stepped on, the screen read 550 pounds, to which AJ accused Marshall of rigging the scale. Marshall then tried throwing a punch at AJ, but he avoided it and then hit him back, before turning to check on his son, Big Justice. As he turned back to the action, Marshall hit a Diamond Cutter on Big Boom, before running out of the ring.
Grade: B+
A lot of people might find this dumb, but for a random moment in a show like AEW Rampage, it was pretty funny.
Juice Robinson Takes On The Butcher
Juice Robinson vs. The Butcher
The Butcher is in the ring by the time the match starts, and things pretty much immediately get so chaotic that both superstars take things outside of the ring. Butcher throws Juice into the barricade and Juice gets him back with a DDT and a big senton splash. He then throws Butcher into the corner and hits another big running move, before Butcher eventually flipped momentum and hit a Jackhammer for a near fall. Juice avoids a finishing brainbuster and then lands a massive punch on Butcher, which allowed him to hit his finisher for the win.
Winner – Juice Robinson
Grade: B
This is another solid one, Juice and Butcher know how much fans just want to see two giant superstars going at it, and that’s exactly what they got here.
Backstage, Thunder Rosa is talking up next week’s all-lucha episode of AEW Rampage, and is then confronted by “Harleygram” (Harley Cameron in a Hologram mask). Harleygram then challenges Rosa to a match next week on Rampage, and denies that she’s actually Cameron before leaving.
The Conglomeration Takes On The Dark Order
The Conglomeration vs. The Dark Order
To close out the night, it’s trios action, and both teams are already in the ring with no entrance. Things start off with Rocky Romero hitting a series of successive clotheslines on Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds, but Uno gets up and then hits a Something Evil on Romero. Later in the match, every superstar found themselves outside of the ring, and Mark Briscoe sent himself up and over the ropes, launching himself onto everyone.
After the chaos, Ishii was able to get Reynolds back in the ring, and then hit a brainbuster on him for the win.
Winner – The Conglomeration
Grade: B-
The Conglomeration continues to be one of the more fun trios in AEW, and that didn’t change much here, as Tomohiro Ishii and Mark Briscoe just keep things super entertaining throughout here.
AEW Rampage Review
Grade: B
Overall, this is a pretty solid show. Some pretty funny moments like the weigh-in and “Harleygram,” and some solid matches. For a show leading into a massive pay-per-view, this one wasn’t too bad.
