TNA iMPACT Results

This week’s episode of TNA iMPACT kicks off with a recap of last week’s show.

TNA Knockouts Championship No Disqualification match: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Alisha Edwards

  • The finish of the match saw Masha Slamovich hit Alisha Edwards with a package piledriver to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Still Champion, Masha Slamovich

After the match, Tasha Steelz attacks Slamovich but Jordynne Grace makes the save.

Grade: B

This was a fun match to kick off the show. Making this match no disqualification gave Alisha a fighting chance against Masha that she wouldn’t have had otherwise. While the outcome of this match was never in doubt, it was still entertaining as the rematch between Slamovich and Grace is set for Turning Point later this month.

The Rascalz and KUSHIDA prepare for Turning Point

The Rascalz are backstage with KUSHIDA. Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz hype up their upcoming match against The Hardys and Ace Austin at Turning Point. The Hardys and Austin are in action later on tonight.

Jody Threat (w/ Dani Luna) vs. Ash by Elegance (w/ Heather by Elegance)

  • The finish of the match saw outside interference from Heather allow Ash by Elegance hit Jody Threat with Rarified Air to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Ash by Elegance

Grade: C+

The match itself was fine, but I really question the match placement. When you essentially open with a women’s hardcore match and then follow it up with a regular women’s match, it’s really hard to top what you just did. This should have been later in the show. Comparing the two matches did this one no favors in my opinion.

A new match set for TNA Turning Point?

Mike Santana confronts Frankie Kazarian in the ring. Kazarian says he’s taking the night off at Turning Point. Santana says there are no nights off in TNA and he’s gonna go talk to Santino that he wants a match with Kazarian at Turning Point.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Rhino

  • The finish of the match saw Frankie Kazarian step out of the way of Rhino’s Gore and then rolled him up with a foot on the ropes to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Frankie Kazarian

Grade: C

Their last encounter in the finish of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet wasn’t great and honestly this wasn’t much better. I just don’t think these two have much of any chemistry together. These things happen. I would keep these two away from each other for awhile.

Steve Maclin’s TNA iMPACT journey

A very long vignette airs featuring Steve Maclin and Eric Young. You can check out what went down in the embedded video below.

Moose and JDC vs. Leon Slater and Laredo Kid

  • The finish of the match saw Leon Slater tie up JDC and score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Leon Slater and Laredo Kid

After the match, Moose and JDC attack Leon Slater but Laredo Kid makes the save with a steel chair.

Grade: A-

Fun tag match. The outcome here was surprising, but it instantly puts Slater and Laredo Kid in contention for a shot at Moose’s X-Division Championship. While I thought it was odd at first that Moose was working a random tag team match here as champion, this loss set up two potential challengers for him in the coming weeks. Well done, TNA.

Joe Hendry makes a bold proclamation

Joe Hendry comes out on the stage and talks about the match he has to take part in at Turning Point. Hendry says he should be out there right now as TNA World Champion but he’s doing this instead. Hendry says he’ll beat five other men at Turning Point risk it all to achieve his dream of becoming the TNA World Champion.

Nic Nemeth is backstage and says he still believes in Joe Hendry but he’s focused on Turning Point. Nemeth says he knows facing Eddie Edwards he’s going to be dealing with all of The System at the same time. Nemeth says it’s an honor to be TNA Champion and at Turning Point he knows all Edwards cares about is power and they will never take this power away from him.

Savannah Evans vs. Brittany Jade

  • The finish of the match saw Savannah Evans hit Brittany Jade with a Full Nelson Slam to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Savannah Evans

Grade: N/A

This was a very quick squash match. Nothing to grade here. Just a dominant win for Savannah Evans. It’s clear she’ll be in the ring with the former Xia Li for a proper match soon enough.

A big stipulation for the Knockouts Title match at Turning Point

Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich are backstage. Grace says tonight’s match went exactly how she expected it to and now they face each other one more time at Turning Point. Slamovich suggests a two out of three falls match and Grace agrees.

The Hardys and Ace Austin vs. Hammerstone, Jake Something, and Trent Seven

  • The finish of the match saw Trent Seven hit Ace Austin with a low blow and a Burning Hammer to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Hammerstone, Jake Something, and Trent Seven

Grade: B

After the match, the winning team looked to continue to punish The Hardys and Ace Austin until The Rascalz and KUSHIDA come out to run them off. The opposing teams at Turning Point face a faceoff as TNA iMPACT goes off the air.

TNA iMPACT Review:

A solid episode of TNA iMPACT tonight overall. A few questionable decisions that I didn’t understand, but the show overall was enjoyable. There was a focus on building Turning Point tonight which I believe is very important.

It’s going to be on a rough night and they’ll likely have a lot of trouble attracting eyeballs to the show live. The harder they build up this show over the next week the better it will be for them.

Grade: B-
