Mickie James has been nominated for an award at the Native American Music Awards this year.
While also being a former women’s champion in WWE and TNA, Mickie James is also a country music star. After leaving the WWE in 2010 she embarked on a music career, releasing her first album later that year.
She has clearly been successful in that regard as in 2024 she is being recognized for her work. The wrestling legend has been nominated for “Best Country Music Recording” by the Native American Music Awards. This is for her song, “Sandbar Sunsets”, described as an “ode to summertime”. James wrote the song along with Sean Gasaway & Jake Hill for release last year.
Mickie James spoke about her nomination on her website. She said, “I am super honored to be nominated! To be nominated again is incredible, always grateful for that and to represent my (Powhatan) heritage & my tribe but also shout out to Sean Gasaway & Jake Hill who wrote the song with me.”
This isn’t the first time Mickie James has been nominated for these awards. She was nominated by the Native American Music Awards in 2017 and 2018, winning at both ceremonies. She won Song of the Year” for her recording “Shooting Blanks” & “Best Single Recording” for “Left Right Left”.
James was also inducted into the Native American Music Awards Hall of Fame in 2017.
Mickie James Is Dream Match For Mercedes Moné
Mickie James is one of the fantasy opponents that Mercedes Moné would love to face in the ring.
In the latest issue of the MonéMag, Mercedes Moné named her top five fantasy opponents and explained why she wants to face James in the ring for the first time.
“What can I say? I LOVED her versus Trish Status’s storyline growing up! I was so inspired by it, I never saw a woman’s storyline like that. What made it even more incredible was that it lasted for an entire year which seemed unheard of for women. They even had an amazing WrestleMania match. I was only a teenager then, but they just truly inspired me, so Mickie makes the last for sure.”
