AEW Dynamite Review: Hits And Misses For November 13

Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly AEW Dynamite hits and misses series.

All Elite Wrestling presented this week’s Dynamite from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Hurt Syndicate, Death Riders, Mercedes Mone, and Will Ospreay worked the show.

Here’s what went down on the November 13 episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite.

Hit – Jay White & Juice Robinson vs. Hangman Page & Christian Cage

This was a solid match to kick off AEW Dynamite. Hangman and Christian worked well together despite their clear differences. Isolating Jay White was a great strategic move. Hook’s cameo was fun to watch. Robinson took a nasty Deadeye as Hangman and White moved one step closer to their match at Full Gear.

Miss – Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher segment on AEW Dynamite

The screwdriver throw was the highlight of this promo. That damn thing went straight for the mat. Ospreay was clearly the better talker here but will he be the better wrestler come Full Gear? The whole I let you sleep on my couch and you stabbed me in the back shtick is getting old. That said, this promo makes sense here because of Fletcher’s history with Ospreay.

Hit – Adam Cole vs. Konosuke Takeshita

The way AEW transitioned from Ospreay’s promo to Archer versus Strong into this match was great. It really gives an organic feel to the whole transition. The production team waited for Cole to do his boom before cutting his music. Hilarious! The match itself was great. Cole losing was a surprise and helped protect Takeshita in a major way. I’m looking forward to Strong versus MJF.

Miss – Mercedes Mone’s acting on AEW Dynamite

Mercedes’ acting is worse than her promo ability. But her fans will tell you she was the best thing on The Mandalorian. Freaking marks! Thank god for Statlander to shut Mercedes up by driving her through the wall.

Hit – Swerve’s House no more!

Swerve and Rush had a great match. The double flip to the outside was a nice callback to their pre-AEW match-up. Rush lost the match but did enough damage for Hurt Syndicate to exact their punishment on Swerve. Swerve versus Lashley is going to be epic.

Miss – Britt Baker vs. Penelope Ford

Baker won with her Lockjaw submission. I thought we would get more of Penelope Ford versus Jamie Hayter this week on AEW Dynamite. But Jamie versus Julia Hart seems to be the direction on the road to Full Gear.

Hit – FTR vs. Kings of the Black Throne on AEW Dynamite

This was a great main event featuring great tag team wrestling. Brody King is a freaking tank. Harwood and Wheeler came close to winning the match on multiple occasions. Hopefully, the loss leads to FTR’s slow-burn heel turn. The final team will be added to the match at Full Gear after AEW Collision.

Honorable Mention

Mox getting hijacked by a fan saying “go back to Roman” was hilarious. Nobody broke character though. Darby was being Darby with his death-defying leaps. He got ragdolled by Claudio Castagnoli. Both men will go one-on-one next week on AEW Dynamite as will Cassidy and Yuta.
