AEW Dynamite Review: Hits And Misses For November 6

Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly AEW Dynamite hits and misses series.

Last night’s Dynamite went down at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH. The show saw storylines and feuds progress on the road to Full Gear. The promotion ran an announcement for the 2024 Continental Classic Tournament.

Here’s what went down on the November 6 episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite.

Hit – Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta

This was a red-hot opener featuring four of the most dependable stars on the AEW roster! Darby’s entrance was spectacular. Sting would be proud. PAC and OC had some stiff exchanges. Castagnoli is a rock in human form. I felt the thud from the uppercut to Darby. The ring post bump was uncomfortable to watch. Darby isn’t made of flesh for the hell he puts his body through for our entertainment.

Miss – Fight without honor!

I had a feeling this was going to be a trainwreck. It had some bright spots. Big Bill looked absolutely dominant for a few minutes he was on the offense. I get Sid Justice vibes from him. If only Tony were able to book him like an unstoppable monster. This match shouldn’t have went past 10 minutes. It clocked at 13:38. Ishii got the pin on Jericho so now he gets a shot at the ROH Champion. Seems to me like the perfect match for Full Gear pre-show. Okay, sorry!

Hit – Adam Cole vs. Malakai Black on AEW Dynamite

Adam Cole vs. Malakai Black (aka Aleister) was one of the highlights from NXT in 2018. I’ll forever cherish their run in NXT. Fans clearly had high expectations for their AEW Dynamite outing. While it wasn’t on the same level, this match had enough action and storytelling to get a thumbs-up from me. The live crowd enjoyed every bit of it. Cole is slowly starting to get back in his element. Black was the right guy to give him the second win post-injury return.

Miss – HOOK comes after The Patriarchy

Christian Cage totally carried this segment. Glad they didn’t let HOOK do a promo battle because The Patriarch would’ve absolutely torched Taz’s son. HOOK should’ve, beat a bunch of security guys and then raised his hands like he won a freaking title or something. Just let Christian be your new father, kid, so Nick Wayne could turn face.

Hit – Powerhouse Hobbs is back on AEW Dynamite

Ricochet got Hobbs to join him against Fletcher and Takeshita. I mean, who can blame the big man after The Family ditched him while he was on the shelf. Hobbs and Ricochet had a fun main event tag team match against Takeshita and Randy Orton from Temu … I mean, Fletcher. He’s probably hearing voices in his head. The post-match brawl was fun. Mark Davis and Ospreay’s return probably means we are getting an eight-man tag team match sooner than later.

Honorable Mentions

  • Tony Khan confirmed Bobby Lashley’s signing in the leadup to this week’s AEW Dynamite. Lashley will make his AEW in-ring debut at Full Gear against Swerve Strickland. Can’t wait to see these two duke it out. MVP did a solid introduction promo for The Hurt Syndicate. Let’s see if they manage to bring Ricochet into the fold.
  • Jamie Hayter and Penelope Ford had a really good match. Ford used her agility to keep Hayter at arm’s length. These two ladies need to have another, lengthy match-up before Hayter goes after the TBS or Women’s World Championship. Speaking of TBS title, Statlander is getting Mercedes Mone one-on-one at Full Gear.
