Matt Hardy thinks Chris Jericho should be on TV for AEW and ROH because he helps elevate those around him.
Jericho recently beat Mark Briscoe in a ladder match to win the ROH Championship for the second time. While this has gained criticism from some fans, Matt Hardy thinks it’s a good thing for the company.
On the latest edition of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, he discussed why Chris Jericho should still be featured on television (H/T to Fightful for the transcription).
Matt Hardy said that Chris Jericho is being used in the right way in AEW/ROH because he has helped to elevate Mark Briscoe in the process. The former ECW and TNA Champion added that people who say Chris Jericho shouldn’t be on TV are “absolutely wrong”.
“They are selling more tickets than they have in over a decade.” Matt Hardy said about Ring of Honor. “It’s a very positive thing and it’s nice that they are being utilized in the correct way. Looking back on it, I watched the ladder match that he had with Mark Briscoe, and I thought Jericho was utilized perfectly. You put Jericho as the Ring Of Honor champion. If you’re trying to build up Ring Of Honor he’s a great guy to be the champion and feature him.”
“That match where he wrestled Mark Briscoe. It elevated Mark Briscoe in my opinion watching it. The finish, he was just such a chickenshit heel. The way Big Bill put him on his shoulders and carried him off the ladder. I think people that say Chris Jericho should not be on TV at this stage of the game. I just think they’re absolutely wrong. And I think he has a benefit, I think he adds a lot to pro wrestling.” Matt Hardy said.
