Bobby Fish has been a pro wrestler for more than 20 years. Depending on who you ask, it might actually be closer to 120 years.
Wrestling fans on social media have poked fun at Fish’s age, coming up with memes and jokes that point out how “old” he is. Some jokes have included other wrestlers in the punchline, such as: “Christopher Daniels is so old that Bobby Fish carved hieroglyphics of him in his cave.”
Fish, who is currently 48 years old, spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard and said he’s very aware of the trend. He takes it in stride and even has a favorite one.
“I think my favorite one was that I did the job for Abe Lincoln,” Fish proclaimed. That was one of my favorites.”
Fish previously told Steve Fall that he appreciates the more creative digs at him, especially “the ones that you can tell there was a little effort put in there.”
Steamed Hams, it’s a regional dialect
Bobby Fish is from Albany, New York. The town is known for its famed “steamed hams” … at least thanks to a classic bit on The Simpsons season 7 episode “22 Short Films About Springfield.” The bit gained new life thanks to internet memes, but it doesn’t appear that it actually caught on with Albany natives like Fish.
“Yes sir, [I’m from] Albany, New York,” Fish said. “Is Albany known for ‘steamed hams’ because of [the show]? I was not keen to that, so, thank you for the iggy. But I guess that kind of answers the question by default. Having grown up in Albany, I don’t know if I would say like, ‘Oh, you got to have the steamed hams.’”
Neither would Super Nintendo Chalmers, but he’s from Utica anyway.
