At AEW Fright Night Dynamite, Adam Cole returned to the ring for the first time in over a year. He defeated Buddy Matthews in a singles match, and Malakai Black confronted him after the bell. AEW confirmed that Cole will face Black on the November 6 episode of AEW Dynamite.
In a digital exclusive, Adam Cole reflected on his in-ring return.
“It’s been a long 13 months, for sure,” Cole said. “Every single one of those months, I was thinking, I was imagining, I was dreaming about the idea of being able to step back into an AEW ring. Tonight, I got to do that against one of the best that AEW has to offer in Buddy Matthews, and he tested me.
“Not only did he test me, he brought out the best in me. He reminded me exactly who Adam Cole is and what Adam Cole stands for. Now I still have two more matches to go if I want to get my hands on that scumbag, MJF.”
Adam Cole On Malakai Black
Cole continued by sharing his thoughts on his upcoming match against Malakai Black. He spoke highly of Black and vowed to beat him.
“But my next opponent is someone I know very, very well. That’s Malakai Black. We have quite the history together. We have faced each other all over the country, all over the globe, and every single time, he is one of the toughest fights that I go through. But Malakai, it’s just a little bit different. Because this time, I have everything to prove. Malakai, I need to beat you, not just to get my hands on MJF, but to prove it to myself, that I can hang with the best damn pro wrestlers in the world, and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. I’ll see you on Dynamite.”
WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on November 6.
