Three-Way Tag Team Action

Shane Taylor Promotions vs. Gates of Agony vs. Undisputed Kingdom

Taven and Moriarty battle back and forth early on. Kaun tags in and takes control as he overpowers Taven. Gates of Agony double-team Taven. Bennett tags in and gains the upper hand. Taylor enters the match and slams Bennett. He grounds Bennett and maintains the advantage. Shane Taylor Promotions isolates Bennett.

Taven rallies, and Undisputed Kingdom gains momentum. Taylor tags back in and drills Taven with a stiff shot. Kaun slams Taylor. Liona takes charge with a flurry of offense.

Liona slams Bennett and Taven. Taven rallies again with a frog splash for the win.

Winners: Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

Roderick Strong celebrates with Taven and Bennett.

Grade: B+

This was a fun opener and a good showcase for all three teams. Taven and Bennett winning suggests that they might be getting heated up for a title shot. Gates of Agony remain underrated, especially Kaun, as he really looks like a star. It’s always good to see Taylor and Moriarty on AEW television, but it’d be nice if they won more.

In an interview, BEEF previews his match against The Beast Mortos. He also comments on Anthony Henry being out with an injury. JD Drake interrupts and wishes BEEF luck.

Backstage, the Undisputed Kingdom speaks with The Beast Mortos and tries to recruit him.

Anna Jay Takes On Leila Grey

Anna Jay vs. Leila Grey

Jay and Grey feel each other out early on. Jay briefly gains the upper hand, but Grey drops her with a neck-breaker. Grey keeps rolling, but Jay rallies with a suplex and some strikes. Jay rocks Grey with a dropkick and slams her to the mat for the win.

Winner: Anna Jay

After the match, Jay talks to the camera and says she’ll see AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May next weekend. Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie are shown watching backstage.

Grade: B

The outcome was never in doubt here, as Jay is challenging for the AEW Women’s World Championship next weekend. This was a solid showing regardless, but maybe it would have been more effective with someone who had been built up more than Grey.

The Beast Mortos Faces BEEF

The Beast Mortos (with Dralistico and RUSH) vs. BEEF (with JD Drake)

The Beast Mortos and BEEF shove each other and trade shoulder blocks. BEEF takes control with a dropkick but gets dumped with a back suplex. Mortos keeps rolling and slams BEEF. BEEF rallies but gets rocked with a headbutt. During a commercial break, Mortos continues to dominate. BEEF keeps figthing and hits a diving crossbody. They trade blows. BEEF drops Mortos with a shot to the face. Mortos catches BEEF with a pop-up Samoan Drop. RUSH interferes when BEEF rallies, knocking him off the top rope. Mortos spikes BEEF for the win.

Winner: The Beast Mortos

RUSH and Dralistico attack BEEF after the match. RUSH whips him with a camera cord, and La Faccion Ingobernable gangs up on BEEF. JD Drake tries to save BEEF, but RUSH chokes him out, and the beatdown continues.

Grade: B

On paper, the outcome was never in doubt, but BEEF got a lot of offense in. This match felt like a way to build him up, even in defeat. Between that and the backstage segment with JD Drake, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of him. Mortos continues to impress; they don’t call him “beast” for nothing. The pairing of him and RUSH remains intriguing as well, as they’re both brutal powerhouses.

Backstage, Harley Cameron is asked about her loss to Kris Statlander and her other setbacks. She says she is talented, attractive, and she can play rough. Cameron mocks Thunder Rosa and says anything Rosa can do, she can do as well.

A video package hypes up AEW Fright Night Dynamite.

Ricochet Clashes With Nick Wayne

Ricochet vs. Nick Wayne (with Mother Wayne)

Ricochet and Wayne go back and forth early on. They’re evenly matched as they trade fast-paced offense. Ricochet sends Wayne to the outside. Nick Wayene evaded a springboard moonsault. Mother Wayne gets in Ricochet’s face, and Nick blindsides him. Nick Wayne dumps Ricochet over the barricade. Wayne continues to control the action. He drops Ricochet with a suplex and keeps him grounded.

Ricochet rallies with a flurry of offense, sending Wayne back to the outside. He dives onto Wayne and gets him back in the ring. A diving crossbody earns Ricochet a two-count, as does a running Shooting Star Press. Wayne gouges Ricochet’s eyes. He dodges a 450 Splash. Ricochet chops him. Wayne nearly steals the win with a Stunner as he holds onto the ropes in a pin attempt. Wayne gets another two-count. Ricochet fires back with a bridging German suplex. Wayne gets a near fall with a Destroyer. Ricochet rallies again and hits the Vertigo. He gets the win with a running elbow strike.

Winner: Ricochet

AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita comes out and stares down Ricochet to end the show.

Grade: A

This match went a long way in reminding viewers about how good Nick Wayne is. It seems like it’s been a while since he had a standout singles match like this on AEW television. Some of that goes to Ricochet, given his caliber, but Wayne held his own with one of the best in the game today. This was a good main event to cap off the show and another quality win for Ricochet. The brief post-match angle with Takeshita kept their feud going, and it’s a safe bet that they’ll clash at AEW Full Gear.

Grade: B+

AEW Rampage has a pretty set formula in that you get quality matches where the outcome is never in doubt, and this week was no exception. The opening tag and the main event were worthwhile by themselves, and BEEF’s bout against Mortos was much more competitive than expected. Ricochet’s presence was a boost, given his name value. Special shout-out to the fun “Fright Night Dynamite” video package, as it leaned into the Halloween vibes of the show.
