Daniel Garcia: AEW Is Where The Best Wrestlers Choose To Be

Daniel Garcia chose to stay in AEW because it is where the best wrestlers wrestle.

After months of speculation about his future, Daniel Garcia signed a new contract with AEW two weeks ago. He has been heavily featured since his debut in 2021. Matches against Bryan Danielson, MJF and Chris Jericho have helped establish Daniel Garcia as a star for the future in the company. Garcia re-signing can only be good him and the company.

Daniel Garcia appeared on AEW Close Up w/ Renee Paquette, and spoke about re-signing with AEW in recent weeks. The AEW star revealed he wanted fans to know that AEW is “where the best wrestle”. He name-dropped stars like Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone as signing who embody that.

“I just want to let the fans know that AEW has a lot of momentum right now.” Daniel Garcia said. “Like the tagline says, ‘it’s where the best wrestle.’ That could just sound like a tagline, but it’s the truth. This is where the people who are the best in the world choose to be. Okada, Ospreay, Mercedes, me, in one year. We’re like, ‘No, we’re putting our flag in, this is where we want to be.’

“We have choices to go everywhere. Obviously, these people have choices to do whatever they want to do in this business. But we choose to be at AEW because we believe in it, and because we think it’s something that can improve wrestling for the next, you know, hopefully forever.”

Daniel Garcia highlights how much he’s grown since last year

Daniel Garcia continued, discussing what made him re-sign with AEW and how much he has grown since last year.

“I feel like I’ve lived five different lives since the last time we did this interview. Last time we did it, first Dynamite of the year, me versus Swerve, and me and Swerve both just went on two complete different kinds of terrors in our lives, you know. And, uh, yeah, I re-signed with AEW last week. I couldn’t be more happy with the decision.”

“I feel like, you know, I’m 26 years old, and this was one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life, and I think I made the right one. You just kind of have to figure out what’s best for you and what’s best for the people around you, and it’s not always an easy decision or easy answer to come up with.”

“One of the biggest things for me is, I remember when I came back after All In, I remember sitting at the monitor, and I’m looking around, it was me, it was Swerve, it was Ospreay, and it was Mercedes. I’m just looking around, and I’m like, these are the people that, like, I would want to go to war with. Everyone’s supporting each other, like everyone’s super talented. Like, these are the people, if I’m sitting in a little, like, trench, these are the people that I want to be next to.”

“So the locker room is a big part for me. I think, stylistically-wise, I can fit in anywhere, but I think culture-wise, environment-wise, I think this is a really good place for me, and I feel like it’s something that I want to be a part of, and it’s something I feel like I can help as well.”
