Mina Shirakawa Believes She Can Bring The ‘Old’ Mariah May Back

Mina Shirakawa wants the “old” Mariah May back.

In heading to STARDOM in late 2022, Mariah May aimed to further elevate herself as a performer. And with her rigorous training at the dojo and guidance from Mina Shirakawa, May did just that. In doing so, May also established herself as a fun-loving and vibrant spirit.

As Shirakawa points out, though, that spirit has since transformed into one of aggression and arrogance. With this in mind, Shirakawa tells WrestleZone’s Troy Gonzales about her plan to bring back the “old” Mariah May.

“I was really happy when Mariah became the AEW Women’s World Champion,” Shirakawa said. “As a former partner of Mariah’s, I was so proud to see how her hard work in Japan led her to emerging to the top so soon after arriving in AEW. But the sparkling, fungoing Mariah is gone.

“I believe I am the only one who can bring Mariah back. I want the old Mariah back. And I want the two of us to team up again and become the strongest women’s tag team in AEW. I can’t wait to go back to see Mariah.”

Since winning the AEW Women’s Championship, May has called for the return of Shirakawa to All Elite Wrestling. Due to her obligations in Japan, however, Shirakawa has only been able to reunite with May once, and in doing so, dodged questions about her whereabouts across the Pacific.

At the time, Shirakawa found herself in alliance with May’s friend-turned-rival Toni Storm. Meanwhile, May completed a string of successful AEW Women’s Championship title defenses, with the latest coming at AEW WrestleDream.
