Blair Onyx Always Secretly Wanted To Be On PWI Women’s 250: It’s Cool To Be Recognized

Blair Onyx fulfilled her secret wish.

This year’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Women’s 250 list was topped by former AEW Women’s Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm. Trailing behind Storm came many names from WWE, TNA, STARDOM, AEW, and of course, the independent circuit.

One of the notable names emanating from the indie circuit is “The Arachnoid” Blair Onyx. WrestleZone’s Ella Jay recently caught up with Onyx to gather her reaction to receiving the honor of being ranked on the PWI Women’s 250, specifically at #241. Initially, Onyx questioned if her selection was legitimate. Upon realizing that it was, though, she felt validated.

“I was surprised,” Onyx said. “There’s a company, 2econd Wrestling, and the promoter Jeremy, he sent me a screenshot of it on Instagram. And I remember I messaged him, I was like, ‘Is this photoshopped? ‘ Well, at first I was like, ‘Whoa, cool,’ and so I immediately tweeted it out. Then something in my head was like, what if this is a prank? So I messaged him. I was like, ‘This is real, right?’ And he told me it was real. It’s so cool.

“I always secretly wanted it. I always secretly checked and it’s always like, ‘Yeah, I don’t care anyways,’ but in my heart, I think that stuff is cool. I think it’s cool to be recognized. It’s a magazine with a lot of history to it. A lot of people in the industry that I look up to were on that list, and to be recognized amongst them is insane. I did think maybe a year and a half ago that I was done [wrestling], like it was over, I reached my peak, and it was time to go. But to have this insane turnaround, and I feel like it’s happened really quickly. For like three years, nothing happened. For three years, I was just trying to do my best, but something really changed, at the end of last year with me.”

During the respective evaluation period (October 1, 2023 until September 30, 2024), Onyx enjoyed a notable reign as the PWK Women’s Champion, which later came to an end at the hands of Kenzie Black.
