WWE SmackDown Viewership Decreases Against Olympics Opening Ceremony

WWE SmackDown saw another decrease in viewership on July 26.

According to Wrestlenomics (via PWTorch), 2.058 million viewers tuned in on Friday. The show drew a 0.52 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. These numbers are down from last week’s episode, when 2.313 million viewers tuned in. The demo also dropped from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.65 rating in the same demographic. The total viewership marks SmackDown’s lowest since June 14, and the demo is SmackDown’s lowest since December 29, 2023.

SmackDown was up against the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday. Per NBC Sports PR, the ceremony averaged 28.6 million viewers. Aside from the ceremony, SmackDown led broadcast primetime in the demographic on Friday.

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?

This week’s show kicked off with the announcement that Jacob Fatu would replace Tonga Loa in tonight’s gauntlet match due to an injury he suffered on last week’s show.

LA Knight picked up another victory over Santos Escobar. Logan Paul attacked Knight after the match and got the better of him thanks to an assist from Escobar.

The Bloodline won the tag team gauntlet match and will challenge DIY for the titles on next week’s show.

The main event of the show saw Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax defeat Bayley and Michin.
