At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland beat Will Ospreay to retain the gold. Strickland could be seen saying something to Ospreay after the match.
At the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door post-show media scrum, Swerve Strickland was asked to comment on what he said to Ospreay after the match.
“I honestly just told him I love him, man, and he’s the best in the world,” Swerve Strickland said. “He’s one of the best talents I’ve ever seen, and it’s gonna be a long time til you find someone as special as him, like how he doesn’t. I can’t wait to do it with him again someday.”
Strickland and Ospreay have been friends for years, and they reunited with Ospreay officially joined AEW in March 2024.
Ospreay beat Daniel Garcia to retain the AEW International Championship on the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite.
