Wes Lee is back, and he has set his sights on the gold.
On the April 30 episode of WWE NXT, which marked the second night of the Spring Breakin’ special, Oba Femi defended the NXT North American Championship against Ivar. The powerhouses battled it out, and Femi emerged victorious.
The returning Wes Lee interrupted his celebration. Lee came to the ring and stared Femi down, making it clear that he was targeting the title he once held.
Lee had been sidelined since December due to back surgery. He was scheduled to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at NXT Deadline, However, he was unable to compete due to his injury. Dragon Lee replaced him and dethroned Mysterio. Femi later beat Lee to win the gold. He has reigned supreme ever since.
Update: Lee later confirmed that he was cleared to compete during a backstage segment.
