Court Bauer was heavily influenced by Dusty Rhodes in how he runs MLW.
The MLW founder will be hosting a War Games-inspired show this month, with MLW’s War Chamber event taking place on March 29.
In a recent interview with TampaBay.com, he spoke about how Dusty inspired how he books Major League Wrestling.
Bauer spoke about his first time promoting pro wrestling. His first show was in 2002, and he booked Dusty Rhodes vs Terry Funk in the main event.
“I never wanted to be a wrestler, but always wanted to be in the wrestling business. I wanted to work behind the scenes, but I didn’t think I had to do anything else but just put that match on and the world would come and see it. This was in Florida, where Dusty was hottest in his prime.”
“Dusty peeks through the curtain, wearing these granny glasses at the tip of his nose. He goes, ‘This isn’t going to be a good show.’”, noting the 500 fans in the 1500 seater arena.
“He said that every promoter, from the most successful to the least, is going to have these nights. But it’s the question of why it turned out this way that you have to answer. And then he walked me through promoting and understanding it.”
“I needed Dusty barnstorming. We didn’t have him doing local media. Dusty said you need a great team, great roster and a game plan and explained how to get those. Dusty taught me so much about the business. and really gave me the fundamentals the political elements, the economic elements, the creative elements.”
Raven Returns To MLW For War Chamber 2024
ECW legend Raven will return to the ring at MLW War Chamber 2024.
The former ECW Champion returned at the most recent MLW show, revealing the name of his new faction and sending a warning to The Calling.
He cut a promo on the group, saying:
“Silence. Cease your inane chattering. The civil war for Carcosa has begun, but I can assure you that it will be anything but civil,” Raven said. “You think you can play when daddy’s away? Well, Daddy has come home, and the pain will follow. So it is written, and shall come to pass. Quote the Raven – wait a minute. Before I end this, you want to steal the name? You want to hijack the name ‘The Calling’? Call me and my faction ‘The Response’, and our response will be nothing but deadly. Quote the Raven, ‘Nevermore’.
The matches on the card for MLW War Chamber 2024 currently announced include:
- War Chamber Match – The Calling (Sami Callihan, Rickey Shane Page, Cannonball & Talon) vs AKIRA, Raven, Jimmy Lloyd & Jake Crist.
- War Chamber Match – Team MLW (Satoshi Kojima, Shigeo Okumura, Matthew Justice and 1 Called Manders) against World Titan Federation (Tom Lawlor, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Richard Holliday, and Josh Bishop).
Major League Wrestling will hold its “War Chamber” on March 29 at The Coliseum.
