BJ Whitmer is not getting any additional jail time after he was previously charged with first-degree strangulation and second-degree burglary.
In June 2023, BJ Whitmer was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and charged with strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree. At the time, he was a producer for AEW/ROH, and the company terminated him. Whitmer was subsequently indicted on the charges in September. Both offenses are class C felonies. In December, the victim came forward and shared her story, including how Whitmer threatened her life. Whitmer’s pre-trial date was set for January 3.
Per BJ Bethel, Whitmer has taken an Alford plea, as he had a sentencing hearing. This means that he maintains his innocence but admits that he could convicted due to the evidence if the case went to a jury trial. The felony can be expunged from his criminal record in five years.
Bethel also posted a quote from the prosecution about why Whitmer was offered an Alford plea.
Fightful‘s Sean Ross Sapp writes that BJ Whitmer’s victim read an impact statement to communicate to the judge how fearful she was of retribution and her safety, as well. The victirm made it clear that she was not on board with the plea deal being accepted.
