WWE is reportedly planning a major match between Roman Reigns and CM Punk, but they are taking their time with it.
Following CM Punk’s return to WWE at WWE Survivor Series, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that WWE is planning on having him feud with Roman Reigns, but he is first set for a rivalry with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rollins has already started teasing the feud by taking shots at Punk in multiple promos.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update. He wrote that the company’s plan is to take “a lot of time” before getting to a match between Punk and Reigns. Meltzer noted that WWE feels that the bout will be “gigantic” at the time they choose to do the match. He pointed out that there are multiple ways to approach the feud, given Paul Heyman’s connection with both.
WWE sources are reportedly optimistic that a match between CM Punk and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin could happen. More information is available here.
