Brie Garcia says Bryan Danielson will be back sooner rather than later.
AEW star Bryan Danielson is currently sidelined, as he underwent surgery for a broken orbital bone. He suffered the injury during a match against Andrade El Idolo on the October 21 episode of AEW Collision. Danielson then competed on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, and he has not wrestled since. AEW has noted that he is expected to return at some point in 2023, but the timeline is unclear.
In an interview with Marc Raimondi for ESPN, Brie Garcia, Danielson’s wife, described how long he had been dealing with the injury. She noted that he thought he was fine until his nose went numb. (H/t Robert DeFelice of Fightful for the translation)
“He’s made of steel. It’s just one of those things that’s unfortunate for pro wrestlers. Our body ages, but mentally, we don’t. I think his body is just like, ‘I think it’s time to hang up the boots,’ but he’s so strong. I mean, nothing holds him back.
“Even when he got the two broken bones in his orbital, he was dealing with the pain and like, ‘I’m fine,’ until his nose went numb and everything else. So they were like, ‘Yeah, you need to get X-rays,’ but Bryan is so tough, and you’ll see him back sooner than later. That’s for sure.”
