Seth Rollins Retains, Sami Zayn Steals MITB Briefcase At WWE Crown Jewel

Seth “Freakin” Rollins defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the World Heavyweight Championship to open WWE Crown Jewel.

The finish of the opening contest saw Seth Rollins hit Drew McIntyre with the Pedigree, followed by the curb stomp to retain his championship.

Following the match, Damian Priest tried to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase but was stopped by Sami Zayn, who stole the briefcase and escaped through the crowd.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth “Freakin” Rollins (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

After a lock up, McIntyre floors Rollins with a shoulder block. Rollins tries one of his own, but it has no effect. McIntyre runs over Rollins again. Rollins back into the corner. McIntyre lights Rollins up with chops before sending Rollins flying with a suplex. Rollins responds with a few chops. Rollins sends McIntyre over the top. McIntyre lands on his feet. Rollins dropkicks McIntyre through the ropes. Diving knee off the apron by Rollins. Rollins tries a dive but gets caught. McIntyre belly-to-belly suplexes Rollins out on the floor. McIntyre works over previously injured Rollins’ back. Rollins is writhing in pain.

McIntyre gets a near fall after a spinebuster. Rollins and McIntyre trade chops. Rollins tries an up and over in the corner. McIntyre meets Rollins in midair with a kick to the face. Rollins counters a reverses Alabama slam with a head kick. McIntyre charges in. Rollins sidesteps, and McIntyre eats the post. McIntyre is favoring his shoulder. Rollins lands a flurry of strikes. Springboard senton by Rollins. Rollins immediately hits a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Falcon arrow by McIntyre. McIntyre kicks out at two. McIntyre escapes a buckle bomb and lands the future shock DDT. Rollins kicks out.

McIntyre calls for the Claymore. Rollins clutches at his back and can’t get to his feet. Rollins rolls up McIntyre. McIntyre kicks out. McIntyre drops Rollins with a sidewalk slam on the apron. Rollins slaps McIntyre. McIntyre lands the Glasgow kiss. Rollins immediately Pedigrees McIntyre. McIntyre kicks out! McIntyre counters the Stomp with a belly-to-belly.

The Finish

Rollins gets to his feet and gets sent flying with another belly-to-belly. McIntyre calls for the Claymore. Rollins counters the Claymore with a superkick. Rollins hits the Stomp. McIntyre kicks out at 2.999. Rollins misses the Phoenix Splash but lands on his feet. Claymore by McIntyre! Rollins kicks out! McIntyre misses another Claymore. Rollins hits another Pedigree and a Stomp for the win!

Winner and STILL WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins!

After the match, McIntyre rolls out of the ring and walks away detected. Damian Priest’s music hits. Priest runs down to the ring with the Money in the Bank briefcase. As Priest is telling the referee he wants to cash in, a hooded man hops the barricade and attacks him. The man pulls down his hood, and it’s Sami Zayn. Zayn steals the MITB briefcase and runs away through the crowd.
