Drew McIntyre comments on his future.
Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is set to expire in early 2024. A new update noted that he will be with the company through WrestleMania season, as time was added to his deal after he missed some time earlier in 2023.
During an appearance on Quinn & Cantara, the former WWE Champion was asked to comment on his contract status. He was also asked whether he has plans to leave WWE. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
“I focus on the now,” Drew McItyre said. “I don’t focus on the past, I don’t focus on the future, I focus on the present. No, I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can say right now.”
Drew McIntyre On How Long He Plans To Wrestle
During the interview, Drew McIntyre was also asked how much longer he plans to wrestle. He stated that he plans to keep going as long as his body will allow.
“As long as my body will allow, as far as I’m concerned,” Drew McIntyre said. “I’ve been doing it for 22 years now. People think I’m in my mid-40s because I’ve been around for so long. I debuted 16 years ago on WWE television. Just what we know about nutrition and looking after ourselves as athletes today, you can really go as long as you want as long as you don’t get any significant career-ending injuries.
“I’ve been very fortunate on that front where I’ve only had a torn bicep, broken bones, a broken neck one time, but that sounds worse than it is. It was a nondisplaced fracture, so I just had to heal the bone. I’ve been lucky overall when it comes to injuries when you look at other injuries in our industry.”
Drew McIntyre will face Jey Uso on the September 18 episode of WWE RAW. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
