The makeshift trio of CMFTR were close to capturing the AEW Trios Championships, but Samoa Joe made sure they couldn’t.
During the main event of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision, Joe appeared at the very end of the match. After it looked as if the trio of CMFTR would get some big momentum, Joe shocked the crowd by grabbing Punk after he had dove out of the ring to take out Malakai Black.
As the match continued in the ring, Joe began choking out Punk outside of the ring. Julia Hart then climbed onto the apron to distract the referee, which allowed Brody King to take down Dax Wheeler for the win.
After the match, Joe continued choking out Punk, and eventually let him go. The move is just the latest in a growing feud between the two superstars, with Joe clearly angered Punk has yet to accept his challenge for a match at AEW All In.
