Cody Rhodes‘ story continues; the latest chapter featured “The American Nightmare” defeating Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam.
Lesnar and Rhodes have been locked in a heated rivalry for the better part of 2023. Rhodes beat Lesnar at WWE Backlash, but Lesnar scored the victory over Rhodes, who had a broken arm, at WWE Night of Champions.
Rhodes charged Lesnar, but “The Beast Incarnate” took him to Suplex City right away. Cody responded with two Disaster Kicks, but Lesnar continued to overpower him. “The American Nightmare” dove onto Lesnar at ringside, but the former world champion slammed Rhodes multiple times.
Lesnar continued to suplex Rhodes and punish him with his brutal offense. He told Rhodes to save himself, as it would only get worse, but Cody refused to stay down. Lesnar dropped Rhodes with an F5 on the floor, but Rhodes got back in the ring. Rhodes took the fight to Lesnar, but Brock dropped him with a suplex. Lesnar then sent Cody through the broadcast table with an F5.
Cody got back in the ring, but Lesnar kept dominating as he hit another suplex. Rhodes ripped off the padding on a turnbuckle pad. Cody rallied as he hit Lesnar with the steel steps and hit two Cody Cutters. Lesnar gained the upper hand as he locked Rhodes in the Kimura.
Cody escaped, sent Lesnar into an exposed turnbuckle, and trapped him in the Kimura. Lesnar slammed his way out, and both men were down. Rhodes countered an F5 into a Crossrhodes and his signature move two more times to clinch the win.
After the bell, Lesnar got in Rhodes’ face, shook his hand, and hugged him. Lesnar then raised his hand.
