Drew McIntyre returned at WWE Money in the Bank, and a new report provides an update on his status with the company.
McIntyre had been absent since he lost to Gunther and Sheamus in a three-way match at WWE WrestleMania 39. The former WWE Champion’s contract was reportedly coming up, and the two sides couldn’t agree on how McIntyre would be used. He finally came back at WWE Money in the Bank, where he took the fight to Gunther.
At the post-show press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer dismissed the reported creative differences between McIntyre and WWE, and he noted that “The Scottish Warrior” had been injured.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that both WWE sources and those close to McIntyre confirmed that McIntyre’s deal with the company was set to expire in early 2024. Sapp wrote that McIntyre wanted to ensure he had good creative upon his return, and during his absence, he was in contact with Triple H and WWE.
Sapp also cited sources who noted that McIntyre has not signed a new contract yet. Additionally, as Triple H noted, McIntyre was indeed injured, he had some things “fixed” during his time away.
WrestleZone will provide more information about McIntyre’s status as it becomes available.
