Are we closer to potentially seeing the return of CM Punk in All Elite Wrestling?
The former two-time AEW World Champion hasn’t been seen in All Elite Wrestling since All Out, where he was injured in the main event against Jon Moxley. Following the event, Punk had less than flattering things to say about the company and the EVPs in the media scrum, which led to a backstage confrontation that resulted in the suspension of both Punk and The Elite for a few months.
But a recent report states that Punk is willing to put things in the rearview mirror and return to All Elite Wrestling in the near future.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Punk has informed All Elite Wrestling “repeatedly” that he wants to return to the company.
CM Punk has gone as far as to present multiple scenarios of how they could handle his return to the company, with one of those scenarios being to work with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. But Sapp reports as of a few months ago, that wasn’t a scenario The Elite were too keen on taking part in.
Punk is also willing to return under the knowledge that he and The Elite would be kept completely separated if that is required to make this happen. Some talent have told Sapp that they believe the upcoming Saturday show that is scheduled to debut this summer would be designed to allow some separation of the All Elite Wrestling roster, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
If returning to All Elite Wrestling isn’t in the cards, Punk has expressed his openness to work elsewhere, but Sapp isn’t sure if that means someplace like Ring of Honor or another location like WWE or New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
