Santana has been out of action since June 2022, and a new report provides an update on his status.
The former LAX member went down with a leg injury during the Blood and Guts match on the June 29, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, and he hasn’t been seen on TV since.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that, per sources, Santa remains with AEW, and the company has paid him throughout his time on the sidelines.
Santana previously hinted that his contract was set to expire in September, and if that were the case, a source familiar with the matter noted that AEW could try to extend his stay with the company beyond his return, due to the time he missed with an injury.
Sapp also noted that sources indicated that Tony Khan has been adamant about paying talent when they’re injured, and in Santana’s case, he has been out of action for over half of a year.
Santana reportedly had a falling out with his tag team partner, Ortiz, and they hadn’t been working as a team as frequently prior to the injury.
