Gigi Dolin is excited to be able to show the world who she is.
Previously, Dolin has been featured as a member of Toxic Attraction on WWE NXT, but her tag team partner, Jacy Jayne, turned on her on the February 7 episode of WWE NXT. Dolin attacked Jayne on the February 21 episode. The following week, Dolin discussed the betrayal in an emotional promo.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dolin discussed the breakout moment and looked forward to her match with Jayne on the March 7 episode of NXT.
“That was the first time that I have actually been able to truly spill my guts on TV,” Dolin said. “Obviously , I’ve been the mean girl and I kind of went along with being the locker room bullies. Like I said in the promo, it was a good way to release some of those inner demons of mine for a while. But the truth is, all I’ve ever wanted to do is just lay out my heart and lay out what is going on and who I really am. This match is huge because it is almost three years in the making. It’s very emotional. With my parents taking me out of public school at a young age, Toxic Attraction was the first time that I truly felt like I had girlfriends, or I would call them sisters. To have them turn their backs on me and for Jacy to do what she did, it creates this extremely emotional moment for me, to be able to not only look Jacy, who I thought was my sister and my friend, in the face and have to go to war against her, but it also symbolizes a lot of what I’ve been through in the past and the people that I’ve encountered in my past.”
When asked about the pressure she feels in the aftermath of the split and heading into her clash with Jayne, Dolin emphasized that she’s excited to show everyone who she really is.
“It is a lot of pressure, and obviously with a group splitting, there is a lot of talk of, ‘Who’s going to be the standout? Are they going to be able to stand on their own?’ There was a lot of talk when it was just Jacy and I as a tag team,” Dolin said “Are they going to be able to do this on their own? It’s very sink of swim, and I almost enjoy the doubt and people questioning and speculating, ‘Who’s gonna be the one to take the lead? Who’s gonna be the star?’ They always have these assumptions, and I think it’s actually pretty interesting to watch everyone’s minds just go all over the place. I’m just so excited for this because I have been waiting, like I said with the promo, a long time to be able to finally spill my heart and let see who I really am outside of this Toxic Attraction member that is just mean and belittling to everybody. Now I can finally show people who I am and who, the person I’ve been sitting on, to let everyone join in on me and my journey as a human being. I want to be able to be relatable as well. The people that have been through similar things as I have growing up, that was the most important thing to me, aside from delivering my message to Jacy and wanting her to know how hurt I was, I also took it as an opportunity for fans and people to be able to find some relatability in me because when I was a kid, I would have given anything to see somebody talking on TV talking about things that I was going through and to be able to share that with somebody. So it’s just the opportunity to be able to express myself finally is what I’m most excited for.”
