Sheamus On His Current Run: I’m Having More Fun Than Ever

Sheamus says he’s having more fun than ever.

“The Celtic Warrior” is one of the longest-tenured stars on the WWE roster, as he made his WWE ECW in 2009. Since then, he has racked up plenty of accolades, and he remains one of the top stars on SmackDown. In recent months, he has fought alongside Ridge Holland and Butch on the blue brand. The trio, collectively known as the Brawling Brutes, have won over the fans with their hard-hitting matches, and their energy is infectious.

In an interview with CBSSports’ Shakiel Mahjouri on SHAK Wrestling, the former WWE Champion made it clear that he’s enjoying himself, and while he isn’t doing much differently, he feels more relaxed than he used to.

“I love it. I’m just having the most fun I’ve ever had,” Sheamus said. “I also think that it’s an opportunity to raise a lot of these guys up and get the most out of them. For me, it’s just so much fun. But I don’t think I’m doing too much different than what I’ve done my entire career. The biggest thing, I think, is the weight’s off my shoulders. I’m not so concerned about everything and paranoid about everything. I’m just going out there totally relaxed and totally worry-free.”

Sheamus went on to detail how he’s taking better care of his body, but he knows any match could be his last. With that in mind, he always aims to deliver his best so that his last time in the ring will be a highlight.

“I feel like right now, I can go on for a long time,” Sheamus said. “I feel like I’m taking better care of my body. I feel like I’m more in tune with it. I do a lot of different stretches [and] yoga stuff. I think I’m smarter with my body and taking care of my nutrition. But I mean like anything can happen in that ring. The easiest thing to call WWE back in the day was fake. Oh, it’s fake. I can tell you right now, we’re an entertainment business, but the physicality is real, man.

“I’ve had multiple concussions. I got dropped on my neck. I still have some issues with that now and again, but most of it, I can work around it. But just a lot of things have happened, and it could just be that one thing, not just for me, for anybody. But I’ve already been in that stage where I felt like I could be done. So I carry that in the back of my mind. Now, if I go out and something happens, I don’t want to go out on a low. I wanna go out on a high.”

Sheamus, Butch, and Holland will team up with Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens to face The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa) in the Men’s WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series on November 26.
