WWE SmackDown Dips Below 2 Million Viewers On 8/12, Demo Rating Drops

WWE SmackDown viewership dipped on August 12.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, 1.927 million viewers watched the show on Friday, which is down from last week, when 2.093 million viewers tuned.

In the 18 to 49 demographic, SmackDown scored a 0.44 rating, which is also down from last week (0.49 rating). Thurston noted that SmackDown still took the top spot in the demographic on Friday, though its total viewership number was the show’s lowest since June. SmackDown was preempted in many markets due to FOX’s coverage of other sports. Thurston specifically wrote that SmackDown was preempted in 12% of TV homes on August 12, including the Atlanta, Orlando, and St. Louis markets. For these homes, SmackDown aired on another network or later in the night.

This week’s episode was headlined by an Intercontinental Championship match between Gunther and Shinsuke Nakamura. Plus, the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament continued, and Drew McIntyre teamed up with Madcap Moss to face The Usos. Elsewhere on the show, Shayna Baszler and Liv Morgan signed the contract for their title match at Clash at the Castle.
