Raquel Rodriguez is happy that Dakota Kai is back in WWE.
The two women were paired up for the majority of Rodriguez’s time in NXT, first as allies and later as enemies. They won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship twice, and they were also the inaugural winners of the NXT Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Rodriguez was called up to SmackDown in April, while Kai was released him the company in May. But she returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2022, and she has been featured on RAW ever since.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Rodriguez discussed Kai’s return and made it clear that she’s very happy for her tag team partner. She also noted that they could potentially reunite at some point.
“I’m so excited and happy for her because she is an absolute superstar,” said Rodriguez. “The things that that girl does and the way she just moves and walks with confidence, I learned so much from her, just thing under her wing for so long. She’s been just a big part of my career as well, and so seeing her on RAW just makes me absolutely happy. Am I a little bit sad that she’s not on SmackDown? Yes, but you know what, she’s out there, and she’s killing it. Maybe somewhere down the road, we will reunite at some point, I hope.”
Rodriguez and Aliyah advanced in the tournament for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the August 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, while Kai and IYO SKY will compete in a first-round bout on the August 15 episode of RAW.
