Ronda Rousey will officially defend the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE Money in the Bank on July 2.
On the June 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, Natalya won a Six-Pack Challenge to earn a title shot, but it wasn’t clear when the bout would take place. The following week, Rousey addressed Natalya in a promo and vowed to prove that her arm-bar is better than the challenger’s Sharpshooter when they clash at WWE Money in the Bank.
“The Baddest Woman on the Planet” subsequently defeated Shotzi in a Championship Contender’s Match, and Natalya attacked her after the bout. The veteran locked the champion in the Sharpshooter, and later in the show, Kayla Braxton announced that Rousey suffered an injury during the beatdown.
