The Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament will continue on the May 20 episode of AEW Rampage.
Red Velvet was set to face Hikaru Shida in the first round of the tournament. But on the May 13 episode of the show, Tony Schiavone informed Jade Cargill and her Baddies, including Velvet, that Shida will be unable to compete. “Smart” Mark Sterling suggested that Velvet should win the match by forfeit. Instead, Schiavone announced that Velvet will face Kris Statlander next week. The two women had been tag team partners for some time before they both went down different paths.
Statlander has been showing a darker, more aggressive side of herself recently, while Velvet’s own attitude change led her to join Cargill and the Baddies.
