The Good Brothers didn’t leave Poughkeepsie with the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship, but they still made history during their visit.
IMPACT Wrestling was just in Poughkeepsie for Rebellion and a subsequent television taping, and the visit was notable for a couple of reasons. According to Cagematch, the taping marked the first time the Good Brothers teamed up in the city, and the duo spoke about adding another stat to their impressive resumes.
Doc Gallows: “Well we were talking on the way up here, we were driving to the city and we were talking about upstate New York and the rich history of professional wrestling. I have a lot of good memories in that building but it’s interesting that Karl and I have never tagged there because we say it all the time but it’s the truth — every continent that has pro wrestling, we’ve been in one of the biggest arenas or venues that there are and this is one that we haven’t. I think it’s one more chance to make some history and I’ve been with a lot of people over the years but to do it with my brother, that’s an honor, that’s always cool.”
Karl Anderson: “Thanks for reminding me, Bill, because on the ride up here, I was looking around and saying ‘hey I recognize this, oh I recognize that,’ but I guess I’ve never been here [laughs]. I thought I had, I think you’re lying Bill. I know that I recognize the city and I know that we’ve been to Albany and White Plains, sounds right, but maybe this is my first time being here, which is interesting. This is cool, it’s just another building for us to put on our hats.”
Doc: “We’ve been in some arguments with our respective bosses over our last movie choices [laughs]. The last two have been great but it took a second to get there [laughs].”
In addition to being the first time the Good Brothers teamed in Poughkeepsie, the Rebellion visit also marked the first time that Doc Gallows had competed as “Doc Gallows” since he’d used a different name in every previous visit. After working as Festus for WWE in 2008, followed by visits with House Of Hardcore (as Luke Gallows) and TNA Wrestling (as DOC of Aces and Eights) in 2012, Gallows’ last in-ring appearance was a 2013 match for House Of Hardcore, but he used the name “Big XLG” against MVP.
Gallows laughed at the notion that he’s making “his debut” in Poughkeepsie, but noted that he owns his name now so he doesn’t anticipate any future changes when they return.
Doc: “I own ‘Doc Gallows’ now, so hopefully from here on out, I’ll be that at the [Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center aka the Mid-Hudson Civic Center]. We’ll see what happens.” [laughs]
