Triple H has stepped away from the ring, but he’s far from finished with his vital role behind the scenes with WWE.
On March 25, Triple H announced his retirement from in-ring competition. During his full interview with Stephen A. Smith on Stephen A.’s World, when asked about his plans for the future, “The Game” made it clear that his top priority is still the same. He continues to focus on finding new talent, building WWE’s future, and setting the company up for success.
“No, my foot’s not off the gas,” said Triple H. “I suppose in some manner I’ve got to step back a little bit. I’m still in recovery and my endurance is not exactly quite what it used to be before. But right now I’m back, I’m at the office. I am fully focused on recruiting and developing of our talent in the future, whether that’s building more performance centers, whether that’s finding the next young stud that’s out there, male or female, like Gable Steveson recently, two-time NCAA Champion, gold medalist at the Olympics, right, his next step is, as you see him leaving his shoes on the mat the other day, his next step is with WWE and with us.
“It’s finding that, it’s creating that future. That’s the biggest focus for me and as we move forward from there, it’s making sure WWE is a success for generations to come.”
Triple H has been instrumental in the development of WWE NXT; often called “The Father of NXT”, he established the brand’s product as a renowned wrestling show throughout the black-and-gold era. Many of the top stars on WWE TV today came through the developmental system with Triple H at the helm.
