Sami Zayn says the rumors are true, and he’s re-signed with WWE.
Sami Zayn appeared on the Les anti-pods de la lutte podcast with Pat Laprade and Kevin Raphael and confirmed that he has re-signed with WWE. F4WOnline.com first reported there was talk that Zayn re-signed, and Fightful later confirmed the story on January 20, noting that Zayn had signed a new multi-year deal with the company. Now, Zayn has commented on the story and said that he’s very happy with his decision to re-sign with WWE.
“Yes, it’s true. Honestly, I don’t know how the world on the internet finds this information, but yes, it’s true, I just signed for a few years and I’m really happy!” said Zayn.
Zayn confirmed that his most recent contract, a three-year deal, was set to end in the spring of 2022. He then explained why he was just happy staying where he was in WWE, noting that he’s enjoying his current role with the company.
“My contract was almost over, they were interested in me staying, I wanted to stay and it was not more complicated than that,” Zayn said. “It’s not the first time I’ve said this, but I’m really happy with my role with the company over the last few years, especially the last year, year and a half. I’m doing the best job of my career, especially in terms of my character. I don’t know why people were really surprised. The world has an idea in their head that everyone who’s in WWE isn’t happy to be there, isn’t happy with their role, wants more or feels oppressed or whatever. For me, I’m really happy with my role and I can’t wait to see what I’m going to be able to do in the next few years.”
Sami Zayn is set to compete in the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble on Saturday and has been involved in a feud with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville in recent weeks.
