Roman Reigns has seemingly had enough of Paul Heyman‘s supposed games, as he “fired” the Special Counsel to “The Tribal Chief” on the December 17 episode of WWE SmackDown.
For months, Heyman’s loyalty to “The Head of the Table” has been a controversial subject. Ever since Heyman’s previous client, Brock Lesnar returned at WWE SummerSlam, the loyalty of the man who was once known as “The Advocate” for the former WWE Universal Champion has been in question. From Lesnar’s subsequent appearance at Madison Square Garden to Heyman’s unclear intentions during the challenger’s match with Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel, there have been plenty of signs that “The Special Counsel” isn’t committed to Reigns.
This tension came to a head on the December 10 episode, when Reigns wasn’t even there; Heyman encouraged Lesnar to stop playing farmer and revert to his beastly ways, and the former champion gave him exactly what he wanted when he attacked Sami Zayn’s doctors. When Reigns returned the following week, he decided to cut ties with Heyman. He questioned whether Heyman was truly the “Special Counsel,” or if he was still “The Advocate.” When Heyman told Reigns he was protecting “The Tribal Chief” from Lesnar, Reigns made up his mind. He told Heyman he loves him, thanked him for his service and fired him. Reigns then dropped Heyman with a Superman Punch.

The champion was ready to inflict more punishment, but Lesnar arrived, accompanied by a thunderous roar of approval from the crowd, to stop him. “The Beast Incarnate” proceeded to attack The Usos and give Reigns an early Christmas present with a one-way trip to Suplex City in the form of two F5s.
Lesnar and Reigns are set to face off at WWE Day 1, where “The Head of the Table” will put his WWE Universal Championship on the line.
