Johnny Gargano Wants To Give Fans A Break, But ‘Johnny Wrestling’ Chants Could Prompt Him To Show Up

Johnny Gargano is officially a free agent, as his WWE contract expired last week. Moving forward, the former NXT Champion’s future is up in the air.

During a stream on his Twitch channel, Gargano emphasized that he just wants to take some time to be with his family before he and Candice LeRae add a new member to the group.

“A lot people don’t realize, so obviously the baby is due in February, so Candice and I are really just trying to enjoy the next couple months we have together,” said Gargano. “Because you don’t think about this stuff, but like this is really going to be the last time that it’s just me and Candice, and Pawdme’, for maybe 18 years. Like the next month and a half, two months are just the last time it’s gonna be just us. So I really kinda just want to enjoy as much time as I have with Candice and Pawdme before the little rascal arrives and then it becomes a whole new world for me. ”

Gargano then described how he feels like, because he was constantly on WWE NXT for six years, it’s time to give the fans a break from him. In doing so, he nited that he hopes to come back “fresh.”

“And also you know, here’s another thing that I’ll put out there into the world and give you a peek into my brain, I guess. I’ve been very lucky in my career, I’ve been doing this for 15, 16 years. I’ve been very lucky injury-wise. I have a bad lower back, bad hip problems, but other than that I haven’t, knock on wood, I haven’t had any surgeries, I haven’t had any major injuries, I’ve been very lucky. I’m beat up, obviously, that’s from doing this since I was 8 years old. And especially at NXT, you look at my run in NXT, six years.

“Like I never missed any time, I was on television pretty much straight from the network, the USA Network, all that, stuff like that, for six years and I never missed time. You look at guys who get injured, they’re gone for a year and then they come back and they’re fresh. Part of me just feels like people just need a break from me. And that may be weird to say now, but I think people have seen me nonstop for six years and I just want to give people a rest from Johnny Gargano for a little bit.”

While he made it clear that he wants to focus on his family, Gargano also teased that “Johnny Wrestling” chants could convince him to show up somewhere because, as a free agent, he has the ability to do so.

“I will say this, the ‘Johnny Wrestling’ chants, they mean the world to me,” said Gargano. “And if you chant ‘Johnny Wrestling’ somewhere loud enough, you never know what could happen. I could show up anywhere at this point. That’s real. I’m free to do whatever I want. So if someone wants to see me bad enough, the ‘Johnny Wrestling’ chants come in, I’ll hear ‘em, I watch everything, so you never know.”

Time will tell what Gargano’s future holds, but his fans are already eagerly waiting for his return.
