Damian Priest got to realize a childhood dream of his this week on WWE RAW when he took on Jeff Hardy and successfully defended his WWE United States Championship against “The Charismatic Enigma.”
In a match with Hardy, someone Priest has said he’s looked up to since he was a child, the champion was able to retain his belt in a thrilling contest. From the start, Priest was able to hold Hardy at bay, as he countered an early Twist of Fate attempt that might have tipped the momentum in Hardy’s favor. That being said, Hardy persevered, and he even looked like he was on the verge of victory after he knocked Priest to the ground and hitting him with a huge diving splash.
Unfortunately for the challenger, Priest wouldn’t go down so easily. In the end, he hit Hardy with the Reckoning to put him down for the count. Following the match, Sheamus — who was on commentary for the bout — slid into the ring and proceeded to assault Priest. He then dropped Hardy with a nasty Brogue Kick. That being said, Priest got revenge for Hardy by hitting “The Celtic Warrior” with his own Brogue Kick to send him a message ahead of their clash at WWE Extreme Rules.
